 補正予算 : extra budget

"¥215 billion in relief set aside for people, firms hit by oil spike"

A combined ¥215 billion has been earmarked from the fiscal 2007 extra budget and the fiscal 2008 principal budget to cover an emergency relief package for people and small businesses affected by the surge in crude oil prices, the government said Thursday.

The package includes eased lending terms for small enterprises, subsidies for ship, bus and airline operators that serve rural areas, and further discounts in nighttime expressway tolls. Altogether, ¥43 billion has been included in the supplementary budget for fiscal 2007, which ends next March, and ¥172 billion in the fiscal 2008 budget.
