"Women's fears confirmed by scoring scandal"
The Tokyo Medical University admissions scandal, in which it admitted to manipulating entrance exam grades, did not come as a surprise for many female doctors. Rather, it was a confirmation of what they had long suspected: Some medical universities set the bar higher for women.
That suspicion was backed up by the fact that the ratio of women who have passed the national medical exam consistently stayed at around 30 percent for nearly 20 years.
"We heard rumors a number of times that medical universities were placing caps on the number of female students," said Ruriko Tsushima, an obstetrician and the head of Tsushima Ruriko Women's Life Clinic Ginza in Tokyo. "Such practices should not be forgiven."

文部省官僚の汚職事件で明らかになった不正合格事件の捜査の中で発覚した、不正入試問題の記事です。日本医科大学は、入学試験の得点を不正に操作し、女性の学生数に「上限（cap）」を設けていたということです。
記事によりますと、国家医師試験の合格者の女性の割合が、ほぼ20年間、一様に、約30％になっているという事実があり、女性に対して、高い障壁があるのではとの疑いが、長い間、女性医師の中にありました。今回の発覚は、このことを確認したことになりました。
産科医のある一人は、「医科大学が、女子学生数に上限を設けているという噂を何回も聞いてきた。このようなことは、許される事ではない」 と、話しています。
